ABSTRACT
This article analyzes continuous training strategies for tourism personnel in the parish of San
Lorenzo, Jipijapa, Ecuador, highlighting the importance of integrating new technologies and
making use of smart infrastructures in destinations that seek to strengthen their position in the
sector. The study arises from the need to enhance the skills of tourism workers, as technological
innovation has become a key factor for ensuring sustainability and improving the competitiveness
of localities with tourism potential. The research followed a quantitative approach, applying
surveys to staff involved in tourism activities. This made it possible to assess their preparation in
the use of digital tools, identify the main barriers to adopting technology, and explore alternatives
to promote lifelong learning. The results show that, although there is a positive attitude toward
digitalization, most workers lack specialized training in tourism applications and management
systems. A limited integration of technologies in service delivery and the absence of structured
training programs adapted to local needs were also identified. Nevertheless, there is strong
interest in participating in training processes and collaborative learning spaces, which creates an
opportunity to design continuous education plans tailored to San Lorenzo’s context. In conclusion,
the adoption of technologies in emerging destinations such as San Lorenzo largely depends on
the implementation of sustained educational strategies, the strengthening of an innovation-
oriented culture, and collaboration among public, private, and community institutions, with the aim
of positioning tourism as a driver of local development.

(Jara, 2023).
necesitan combinar habilidades tecnológicas, comunicativas e innovadoras.
