globales de transformación educativa. Este estudio se propone determinar la contribución de la
inteligencia artificial y el aprendizaje basado en proyectos dentro del proceso formativo,
considerando sus beneficios y su impacto en el desarrollo estudiantil. Con este objetivo, la
investigación examina herramientas de IA aplicables al ABP, analiza cómo fortalecen sus etapas
y evalúa las mejoras obtenidas en autonomía, creatividad y pensamiento crítico.

ABSTRACT
Artificial intelligence (AI) has become a key tool for educational transformation, especially when
combined with active methodologies such as project-based learning (PBL). Leading countries in
educational innovation employ intelligent systems to personalize processes, analyze data, and
facilitate interactive environments that enhance student research. The combination of AI and PBL
allows students to develop advanced skills, such as critical thinking and problem-solving. Global
organizations are also promoting its ethical and responsible use. In this context, higher education
is adopting strategies that integrate technology with active pedagogy. This reflects a global trend
toward more flexible, creative, and student-centered models. In Ecuador, the advancement of
artificial intelligence within the education system is beginning to solidify as a necessity to meet
current demands. Institutions are progressively implementing intelligent platforms and tools that
support teaching processes and strengthen project-based methodologies. PBL has gained
relevance due to its capacity to develop students' research, collaborative, and practical skills. By
integrating AI, activities such as information analysis, automated feedback, and access to
specialized digital resources are enhanced. Despite challenges such as connectivity and teacher
training, the country is moving towards a more innovative education. This combination opens new
opportunities to improve educational quality and promote autonomous learning. At the Southern
State University of Manabí (UNESUM), the integration of AI and Project-Based Learning (PBL) is
emerging as a promising strategy to strengthen the academic and professional development of
its students. The institution promotes the use of advanced technologies that improve research
processes and problem-solving from a practical perspective. PBL is consolidating itself as a
methodology that fosters creativity, autonomy, and collaborative work, while AI provides tools to
analyze data, optimize projects, and expand access to digital resources. Several degree
programs are exploring intelligent platforms and automated pedagogical support systems. This
approach places UNESUM on a path of continuous innovation. In this way, the university seeks
to align itself with global trends in educational transformation. This study aims to determine the
contribution of artificial intelligence and project-based learning within the educational process,
considering their benefits and impact on student development. With this objective, the research
examines AI tools applicable to PBL, analyzes how they strengthen its stages, and evaluates the
improvements obtained in autonomy, creativity, and critical thinking.
