Abstract

Quality Management is a business approach that aims to ensure that the products or services offered meet the quality standards expected by customers. In agri-food production, Quality Management is essential to guarantee food safety and customer satisfaction. To establish quality standards, specific ISO (International Organization for Standardization) standards have been developed for agri-food production. ISO standards establish the minimum requirements for the production of high-quality and safe food. The most common standards are ISO 22000, which focuses on food safety, and ISO 9001, which focuses on quality management in general. The implementation of ISO standards in agri-food production can improve production efficiency, reduce costs and increase customer satisfaction. Furthermore, companies that comply with ISO standards can demonstrate their commitment to quality and food safety to their customers and to regulatory authorities. In this sense, the objective of this mixed-focus research lies in The objective of the mixed research was to determine the importance of Quality Management based on ISO 9001 Standards for agri-food production. For this, the research is divided into two stages: the first, a bibliographic review of primary and secondary sources in the last 5 years, and the second, a survey of 100 agri-food producers in the city of Manta to find out their perception of the importance of quality management based on ISO 9001 Standards.
