ABSTRACT
Rural tourism has gained prominence as a strategy to promote rural development that fosters the development of natural and cultural resources in the communities that engage in it. In this context, rural tourism focused on sustainable experiences prioritizes creating tourist activities that are attractive to visitors but also contribute to the well-being of the territories themselves in economic, social, and environmental terms. This approach relies on fostering a close relationship between visitors and the host community, sharing traditions, production practices, gastronomy, and ways of life linked to the rural context. Sustainable experiences in rural tourism value the responsible use of natural resources, recognize local culture, and encourage the participation of the local population in the planning and management of tourism activities. This approach fosters a measured model of tourism that seeks to minimize negative impacts on the natural environment and enhance the cultural identity of local communities. Rural tourism also represents an economic alternative for the development of rural areas that traditionally depend on activities such as agriculture and livestock farming. In this way, sustainable rural tourism positions itself as a resource for territorial development, environmental respect, and the creation of memorable experiences for visitors, while simultaneously improving the quality of life for rural populations.
