ABSTRACT
This research analyzes the impact of a pedagogical strategy based on amorfinos battles on the development of communication skills in high school students at an educational institution in the suburbs of Guayaquil. Given the limitations observed in oral and written expressions in vulnerable school contexts, the general objective was to determine the effectiveness of this traditional cultural practice as a teaching resource to enhance communication skills. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design was adopted, using pre- and post-tests administered to 133 students distributed into an experimental group (parallel groups A and B) and a control group (parallel groups C and D). Statistical analysis included Student t-tests for paired and independent samples, as well as a mixed ANOVA, the results of which showed significant improvements in the experimental group, with increases of over 17% in post-intervention scores, in contrast to the control group, whose progress was marginal. It is concluded that the use of culturally contextualized strategies such as amorfinos promotes meaningful and effective learning of language skills. This approach represents a relevant pedagogical alternative for similar educational contexts.
